Wordsworth Grasmere ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’
Nestled away in a beautiful historic hamlet in Grasmere sits Dove Cottage, home of the great English poet William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy. The Cottage transports anyone who steps over the threshold back to the early 1800s, where Wordsworth wrote many of his greatest poems and his sister Dorothy kept her Grasmere journal.
Wordsworth Grasmere tells the story of this remarkable time in his life. Discover Wordsworth’s radical and creative life in the Museum, enjoy views of Grasmere from the Viewing Station or visit the Café serving locally sourced food and drink.

New Exhibition – To the Lakes!
Wordsworth Grasmere are opening a new exhibition ‘To the Lakes!’ until 30 December, which invites today’s visitors to the area to experience the Lake District through the words and images captured by tourists 200 years ago – the things they did, the places they would stay, the equipment they needed and the clothes they wore.
