Hutton-in-the-Forest is a beautiful house in the north eastern edge of the Lake District surrounded by the magnificent woodland of the medieval forest of Inglewood. It is the home of Lord and Lady Inglewood and their children and has belonged to the family since 1605.
Originally a medieval stronghold with a pele tower, suceeding generations have altered and added to the house and the outside and inside show a wide variety of architectural and decorative styles from the 17th century to the present day. The house contains fine collections of furniture, ceramics, tapestry and portraits.
The beautiful walled gardens, built in the 1730s, is a wonderful setting for a large collection of herbaceous plants, roses and trained fruit trees.
