Dalemain is a much-loved family home, set against the grandeur of the Lakeland Fells and the surrounding parkland. Behind the impressive pink ashlar facade lies the real surprise of Dalemain – its sheer variety. The history of the house stretches from Saxon times to early Georgian and has been in the same family since 1679. There are fascinating interiors with fine furniture, family portraits, ceramics, doll’s houses, old toys and Mrs Moure’s House. The interior includes the Chinese Room with its original 18th century, hand painted wallpaper, the Tudor Fretwork Room with its magnificent 16th-century ceiling and oak panelling, plus winding passages, quaint stairways and unexpected rooms.
There is a delightful and captivating 5-acre plantsman’s garden of richly-planted herbaceous borders with an intriguing and unusual combination of flowers. The Rose Walk has over 100 old fashioned roses and ancient apple trees, there are wild gardens and riverside walks to enjoy and in early summer a famous display of Himalayan blue poppies.
Dalemain is also home to The World’s Original Marmalade Awards & Festival which takes place each year in February which celebrates the very British tradition of Marmalade and all things related!
The card is not valid on Special Event Days, more details/prices are available on our website.
